Zebrawood

Zebrawood gets wild with its creamy yellow broken up by directional stripes of dark chocolate. Each box made of this wood is very different looking with striking amounts of variance stemming from the grain patterning sometimes appearing very close together sometimes widely spaced; sometimes straight and sometimes very compact.

This is a gorgeous wood that is highly sought after, and while not included on the CITES threated list unfortunately Zebrawood is listed on the IUCN red list of threatened species, so each purchase of a box made out of Zebrawood includes an automatic donation to IUCN to protect the species from over harvesting. If requesting a custom box, please make it clear if you would rather the wood grain going vertical or horizontal if you have a preference. Also be aware that all samples will not be straight grained nature refuses that request!

Tournament Custom – $115 unlined with a supple 1 1/4″ thin supple Italian leather strap using antiqued nickel snaps. This box is unlined per request of a prospective buyer, and can be lined for an additional $20.00. It is flat sanded with “sharp” corners and finished with boiled linseed oil giving it a smooth finish that is surprisingly abrupt giving it a “strong” look.

Grand Custom – $140 Black Italian leather lined; with ultra-wide 2″ thick belting finished with antiqued nickel snaps. This box has mild chatoyancy (technical word for light refracting) characteristics and has a vertical grain pattern. It is cut pure square giving it a very bold look and feel. This particular box is one of our featured boxes used for our website pictures.

Grand Custom – $185 Black Italian leather lined; with 1 1/2″ thin supple Italian leather strapping finished with antiqued nickel snaps. This box has unusually white characteristics and is the most closed grain pattern I have encountered giving it a glass smooth surface which is unusual for Zebra wood. It is cut square and has an Italian leather bottom foot helping it not slide around as much and covering the alternate wood that was used for the base as there was not enough material without swapping the bottom. This particular box is one of our featured boxes used for our website pictures.
