Redheart is a beautiful wood that can have a very wide range of colors, even board to board the color can jump around greatly, though usually it has a very straight fine grain. It sands down fairly well due to the grain pattern though it can affect glue applications. If you love the look of bloodwood, but want some grain this might be a good option, though it can also end up at times in light pink or orange tints.
Redheart just like its cousin Purpleheart is not listed on either the Cites or IUCN threatened species lists, so if you are looking for bold and varied; without going to the crazy town that Purpleheart lives in this might be the perfect option for you.
Current available boxes for sale in Redheart:
Tournament Custom – $95 Black Italian leather lined with a 1 ¼” leather strap using antiqued nickel snaps. This box has a smooth finish with good chatoyancy (technical word for light refracting) bands. When I started on this box I thought I was going to end up with something Pink, but very rapidly it changed to a deep red with thin almost black grain pattern lines.
