Red Cedar

Red Cedar has a bad wrap probably from too many people using it wrong and making either ugly or mundane items out of it like fence posts and coat hangers. But the wood is gorgeous when treated well and cared for. The trees are very commonly distributed across the north eastern united states, but they grow slowly so there tends to be a fairly high number of knots which is bad for those that want plane looking uniform wood, but is awesome when you want some high contrast high variance style. The Red Cedar we use has a purplish hue with lighter yellow sections from the sapwood. We spend the time to sand it out to 600gritt and get a really good finish on it so it will feel as good as it looks.

Red Cedar is not listed on the CITES appendices or the IUCN threated species list. Let’s make an amazing box out of it not another thing to hang your jacket on.
