Glorious reddish brown color that darkens with age. When we finish Mahogany deck boxes with boiled linseed oil, this wood gains wonderful warmth with fabulous texture. This is one of our favorite woods to work with.
Mahogany is an interesting wood in that it has been commercially planted and harvested longer than most other species. It is not listed on the CITES Appendices but is listed on the ICUN red list of endangered species, so every purchase of a Mahogany box comes with an automatic donation to support ICUN.
