Katalox is a unique dark wood that comes out of Central America. Sometimes referred to as Mexican Royal Ebony though not a member of the true ebony family, this wood has a gorgeous purple hue against a deep brown black base color that has strips of darker sections in thin strips. Definitely one of the unique woods to stand out on a table this will have all of the look and weight of ebony without the feel bad consequences of destroying the environment.
Katalox is not currently listed on CITES or IUCN threatened species list though we will continue to monitor the situation and we may pull this species if it becomes listed.
