Bubinga

Bubinga is an amazing wood, stronger than most and light weight for its hardness. The wood comes in all sorts of different patterns of grain and it finishes to a silky smooth. But the tree has very recently (January 2017) come under attack and was listed as threatened on the CITES list due to over harvesting and as a protective measure keeping people from over using Bubinga after the rosewood family also got banned from use in January 2017. (Yes tree’s also get the ban hammer just like top and gitaxian probe).

We have a few samples but currently we are doing more research on the legal and ethical ramifications before we actually sell them as all of this is fairly new. Bear with us and understand that we are trying to figure this out.

Bubinga is not evaluated on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species, the three Guibourtia species yielding Bubinga are listed on CITES appendix II—which also includes finished products made of the wood. source The Wood Database
