Now this is something entirely different, Ladies and Gentlemen let me introduce you to Black Palm! It is technically not even related to any of the other wood species we use since it is a monocot and is more closely related to grass, bamboo, and banana’s. But who cares this wood is amazing to look at with those dark fibers running through the less dense brown wooden sections. On the end sections you can trace individual fibers up on to highly figured spotted edges.
This is a real looker for a wood which is great but it does not sand super flat since the black fibers are so much harder than the brown wood which leaves a ridged feeling for your fingers. It is also not listed on either the CITES or IUCN threatened species lists so we can rock on with no guilt for these boxes.
